HOW TO APPLY
Tips on completing your application
AGS offers the following
advice to applicants.
Before you write
Please read the application material
carefully. It describes the tasks and functions of the job
and also lists the qualifications, abilities and experience
that AGS is seeking in the successful person.
Presentation
Applications should be neatly presented.
Unless requested, do not send any attachments such as examples
of work, publications or graphics with your application.
Your application
The following approach to apply for
a position is a suggestion only. You may submit an application
in any format you choose. An application in the suggested
format will, however, assist AGS with the short-listing
process and should ensure that your claims to the position
have been presented comprehensively.
Your application should include your
curriculum vitae (CV) and, if requested, demonstration of
knowledge and skills specific to the job you are applying
for.
Curriculum vitae
Your CV should include:
Your employment history should include
the dates of your employment (in chronological order commencing
with the most recent job) and the capacity in which you
were employed, the name of your employer and a brief outline
of the main duties undertaken. Please focus on experience
that is relevant to the job you are applying for.
Demonstration of experience and skills/competencies
You may wish to use each of the experience
and skills/competencies items in the role description as
a heading under which you demonstrate how your experience,
skills and qualifications enable you to meet the job requirements.
Referees
Please provide the names and contact
telephone numbers of people you wish to nominate as referees.
If possible, one referee should be your current supervisor
or manager. Do not provide written referee reports unless
requested.
Conditions of employment
Employment in AGS may be subject to
conditions notified at the time of engagement, including:
—
probation
—
immigration status (most jobs at AGS
require Australian citizenship or permanent residency)
—
holding qualifications necessary to
undertake the job
—
security and character clearances
—
health clearances.
You will be notified how any of these
conditions could apply to you.
Submitting your application
Applications must be received by the
closing date. Please check the advertisement and application
instructions for details on how to submit your application.
Usually we ask for applications to be sent via email to
a specified email address. Should you be unable to meet
the closing date, please telephone the nominated contact
person and seek an agreement to submit a late application.
If a late application is approved, you may still be asked
to submit an expression of interest by the closing date
(this can be sent by email or faxed), followed by a full
application before the new agreed deadline.
Acknowledging applications
We will acknowledge your application
when we receive it.
Selection process
We generally invite short-listed applicants
to attend an interview.
If we request you to attend an interview,
we will explain the interview process and any assessments
that you may be required to undertake as part of the interview.
Please indicate on your application
if you have any specific needs, to assist us to set up the
interview appropriately.
Notification of selection outcome
We will notify you of the outcome
of your application at the completion of the selection process.
