ENVIRONMENT
With strengths in: agriculture
and fisheries/marine issues, environmental agreements,
environmental planning, development and management,
heritage issues, water law, climate change issues,
tourism and recreation.
Lawyers at AGS have comprehensive experience in
legal matters relating to the environment, climate
change and water.
In particular, we have provided agencies with advice
and assistance on environmental impact assessment,
endangered species protection, hazardous waste management
and disposal, pollution control, greenhouse gas emissions,
energy efficiency, water management, and protection
of national and cultural heritage—including
world heritage areas, national estate areas and areas
of significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples.
We have also developed the Green Lease Schedules
and the Green Lease Guidance Notes for use in Commonwealth
leasing.
AGS lawyers advised on the development of the Commonwealth Water
Act 2007 and have continued to advise on its
implementation. We have also been involved in projects
requiring close interaction between government
and the energy sector. These have covered corporatisations,
privatisations and regulatory arrangements.
