ADVOCACY
AGS has experienced specialist advocates throughout
Australia. They regularly represent clients in courts
and tribunals in a wide range of matters such as:
- appeals and interventions in the High Court
of Australia
- appeals in Federal and State courts and tribunals
- trial work in Federal and State courts and tribunals
- appearances and interlocutory hearings in all
those jurisdictions.
Our advocates are expert in preparing and presenting
material to support clients’ cases to courts
and tribunals. They are generally involved with their
instructing lawyers in preparing the case before
appearing as advocate. They work with clients and
instructing lawyers to achieve the best possible
result, consistent with public policy and accountability
requirements.
Many of our clients prefer to brief AGS in-house
advocates as an alternative to briefing counsel from
the private bar. This is because our in-house advocates
have special knowledge or expertise in a particular
area of law, or they may know a client’s business
intimately and have worked closely with them over
a long period of time.
We also offer a counsel-only service—our advocate
or in-house counsel instructed by your lawyer.
