ROYAL COMMISSION INTO THE BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
A core team of 18 lawyers from AGS provided the bulk of
the day-to-day legal services for the Royal Commission into
the Building and Construction Industry—Australia’s
first national review of the industry’s conduct and
practices.
Ross McClure, senior executive lawyer AGS Melbourne,
served as director of legal services to the Commission.
In this
role, he was the primary contact for parties and legal
representatives wanting to deal with the Commission. He also
managed and
directed, with senior counsel assisting, the legal work
of the Commission.
The Commissioner, the Hon. Terence Cole
RFD QC, submitted his final report in February 2003. The
report recommends
structural and cultural reform in the industry.
In recognition
of their outstanding work and support, the AGS team received
an AGS Australia Day award in 2003.
