Training courses
2010 heralds a major change in the way that AGS provides legal training. We can now offer our training to not only Commonwealth employees but also members of the private legal profession, students and the broader public.
We have also made a number of other significant changes to our training program.
This year AGS and LEADR – Association of Dispute Resolvers – will offer training sessions in Canberra and Sydney on the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in the Commonwealth context. Experienced presenters will discuss the increasing significance of ADR in the Commonwealth legal environment, ADR processes, and how and when to use ADR. To find out more, please go to the left hand side of this page and click on 'LEADR/AGS Alternative Dispute Resolution'.
In 2010 we will be offering courses in some of our regional offices. Click on the appropriate AGS office on the left hand side of the page to see what is on offer.
If you are a government lawyer or you are working within a Commonwealth agency and you would like to participate in a unique professional development opportunity, our new three-day course 'Essentials for the government lawyer' could be for you. It offers insights into the special role and particular professional obligations of government lawyers in delivering legal services and managing legal risk. If you are a public servant involved in obtaining or using legal services, our new half-day course 'Managing legal risks and relationships' could be of interest to you. To find out more, please see our course flyer.
