Training courses
AGS offers courses in
administrative law, constitutional law, Commonwealth financial
framework, freedom of information, government law (including
advice writing, Code of Conduct, delegations and authorisations,
machinery of government, understanding legislation), government
contracting, privacy and other relevant topics. These sessions
are designed to
help
government
employees acquire the legal knowledge and skills they need
to do their jobs efficiently.
All presenters are AGS lawyers
who have a great depth of knowledge of the government environment,
and who practise
extensively in the area of law covered by a particular
session. They illuminate important principles with real-world
examples,
encourage active discussion of the issues and lead participants
through practical problem-solving exercises.
The courses
are run as informally and interactively as possible and,
where relevant, meet professional continuing
legal
education obligations.
Course manuals include up-to-date
and comprehensive overviews of the relevant topic and applicable
law. Participants
also receive relevant source materials, exercises,
model answers
and pertinent extracts from legislation.
When clients
have special requirements, we can design customised courses
in the areas of administrative law, freedom of information
and privacy.
