Consumer and competition
AGS acts for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in regulatory proceedings under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (formerly the Trade Practices Act 1974). We have been providing legal services to the ACCC (and its predecessors) for more than 40 years. Our competition practice comprises a core group of around 25 practitioners across Australia, dedicated to undertaking work exclusively or predominantly for the ACCC. Visit Dispute Resolution and Litigation for more details on our competition practice.
In recent times we have advised the Australian Energy Regulator on its responsibilities.
We also assist other agencies to identify and manage potential consumer and competition issues, including in relation to business activities conducted by Commonwealth agencies and dealings with third parties such as contractors.
