Chief General Counsel
Guy is a Commonwealth Queen’s Counsel, with over 30 years of experience. He has been AGS’s Chief General Counsel since 2014, and has a profound understanding of the legal framework Commonwealth entities operate within and extensive knowledge of the Constitution. He provides the highest level strategic advice on constitutional law and public sector management and accountability issues.
His expertise covers all aspects of public law as they affect the activities of the Commonwealth Government. He regularly appears in the High Court defending the validity of Commonwealth legislation, including in such landmark cases as the Australian Education Union case, Pape and Williams (No. 2).
Guy is co-author of Sawer’s The Australian Constitution (3rd edition) and was recognised in the 2010 Legal Department Benchmarking report, Australia’s best lawyers as judged by their clients.
