National Leader and Deputy Chief Counsel Commercial

Adrian leads the national commercial law practice of AGS, comprising more than 100 legal staff. He is a strategic adviser and lead negotiator for some of the Australian Government’s most complex projects. He is recognised as a leading expert in major projects and procurements, as well as technology and intellectual property (IP) law and transactions.

He has been a key adviser and negotiator on the acquisition of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the development of the National Broadband Network (including establishing NBN Co), the Australian Government’s International Communications Network, the national Emergency Alert telecommunications warning system and the acquisition of the Bureau of Meteorology’s Weather and Climate Supercomputers.

Adrian has also been the lead legal adviser to the Australian Government for its hosting of all major international governmental meetings over the last decade, including ASEAN 2018, G20 2014 and CHOGM 2011.

He has also influenced the Australian Government’s development of cloud computing and open data policy and authored the Australian Government’s legal guide on cloud computing.
