Vardanega PSM, Louise
AGS Chief Operating Officer
Louise joined AGS in 1975 and worked in various areas of law, including general litigation, criminal prosecutions and administrative law. Much of her practice included appearance work as counsel and the handling of significant matters in both the ACT Magistrates and Supreme Courts. She also gained high-level expertise in handling administrative law matters for government departments and agencies in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Federal Court of Australia.
Director of AGS's former Canberra City office for several years, she was appointed Director AGS Canberra (which combined the Canberra City and Barton offices) in 2000. From 2003 to 2005 she also held the position of National Director of AGS's Clients and Market Office. She was appointed Chief Operating Officer in June 2009.
Louise was awarded a Public Service Medal in the Australia Day 2000 Honours List for outstanding public service through leadership and management of the then ACT office of AGS. She has been a Member of the ACT Law Society Council since 1993 (and was its Secretary for 25 years). She is a Board Member of both the ACT Legal Practitioners Admissions Board and the Advisory Board of the ANU Centre for International and Public Law.
