AGS sponsors the 2019 Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law Moot
Over 3 days in October 2019, the Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law Moot was held, hosted by the University of Melbourne Law School and sponsored by AGS.
Since its inception in 2002, the moot has become recognised as Australia’s premier constitutional law moot. This year there were teams from 22 Australian universities, resulting in a large number of law students (and coaches) involved.
Deputy Chief General Counsel Damian Page represented AGS at the moot where he delivered the opening address to the participants. He spoke about what it is like to work as a constitutional lawyer, the pathways to working in this field, and about the important constitutional law and other public law work AGS does.
Damian and a number of other AGS lawyers were involved as judges at various moots throughout the competition.
'The competition was very well organised by law students from the University of Melbourne. The organisers frequently expressed their gratitude to AGS for its sponsorship and providing prizes, and providing judges for the moots,' Damian said.
