Free seminars and forums

AGS hosts a number of informative and engaging seminars, sessions and forums across Australia for Australian Government employees.

These free events are held regularly in various capital cities, and provide an opportunity to learn more about current and emerging government legal issues.

Civil Regulator Update

These sessions allow regulators to meet and engage on common legal questions arising for them, and share insights on significant enforcement issues for regulatory agencies.

Employment Update

For lawyers and HR practitioners alike, these regular forums bring interested professionals together to discuss emerging issues and developments in employment law.

FOI Practitioners’ Forum

Held regularly for more than 20 years, these forums bring FOI contact officers from across the Commonwealth together to discuss matters of current interest relating to the operation of the FOI Act and to raise issues and concerns.

Government Law Group seminars

Presented by AGS and agency experts, these are held several times a year and cover topical subjects across various areas of law.

Ruling the waves: Regulating Australia’s offshore waters

We are pleased to invite you to attend this live-streamed event.

The Commonwealth and the states have many important interests in the waters that surround Australia, also known as ‘offshore’ areas. A variety of laws can apply and interact in different offshore areas, including Commonwealth, state and territory legislation, the international law of the sea, and other specific treaty regimes.

Join our fictional public servant as they seek to navigate this complex area of law with advice from a panel of constitutional and international law experts and come away with an understanding of what laws can apply  where and to whom in the maritime realm.
