Who should attend

This course is for new or recently appointed FOI coordinators or contact officers, employees at all levels who are responsible for dealing with FOI requests or need to be aware of FOI in the course of their duties and employees wanting a refresher course in FOI principles.

This half-day seminar takes participants through the essential features of the Freedom of Information Act 1982, and will review:

  • the basic processes and procedures for dealing with FOI requests
  • the exemption provisions with emphasis on the more generally used exemptions

Participants will gain a general understanding of the application of the FOI Act and the operation of the exemptions.

Our presenters are experienced AGS lawyers who have a great depth of knowledge of the government environment, and who practise extensively in the areas of information access.
