National Manager Office of General Counsel

Meredith Allen is the National Manager of AGS’s Office of General Counsel (OGC), where she brings her legal experience and people‑focused approach to the leadership of one of AGS’s core practice areas. She works closely with senior leaders and teams across OGC to support high‑quality legal service delivery and ensure the practice is equipped to meet the needs of the Australian Government.

Meredith began her career in private practice before joining AGS as a lawyer in the Dispute Resolution team, then moving into national‑level management roles within AGS. Her experience in both legal practice and practice management gives her a deep understanding of the demands placed on government lawyers and the systems that support their work.

In her national management roles, Meredith contributes actively to AGS and to the wider Commonwealth legal community. She focuses on strengthening recruitment, induction, training and supervision frameworks that support the development of capable and confident practitioners.

Meredith has a particular interest in staff wellbeing and professional growth. She is committed to creating an environment where AGS lawyers and support staff can thrive, develop their skills and deliver their best work as part of a high‑performing national legal practice.
