Who should attend
This course is designed for government lawyers who are, or will be involved in, ICT procurements, contracts and projects. No previous ICT knowledge is required. The course is aimed at participants with some procurement or contracting experience who want to better understand the legal, commercial, and governance aspects of Commonwealth ICT procurement.
Procurement professionals, policy officers or contract managers who support ICT project delivery within Commonwealth entities will also find the course useful.
Course outline
This training session provides a structured walkthrough of ICT procurement in the Commonwealth context and covers:
- Common types of ICT procurement like software, cloud and ICT professional services.
- The procurement lifecycle from planning, to contract negotiation & award, contract management and contract expiry.
- Overview of specific Commonwealth policy and legal obligations.
- Key legal risks and contractual considerations including licensing, IP, pricing, and liability.
- Cyber security, privacy and AI-related risks and obligations in ICT contracts.
- A practical exercise reviewing a sample End User Licence Agreement (EULA).
