Senior Executive Lawyer

Helen has over 16 years of experience in property-related transactions and has also advised on complex property law issues, including assisting on issues of constitutional immunity and the application of State laws to government agencies.

She has expertise in commercial and telecommunications leasing. She assisted Finance with the preparation of the standard form national lease and heads of agreement for Ministerial and Parliamentary Services. She has also been involved in a number of large-scale disposals of residential and industrial land by auction and tender process in Victoria, the Northern Territory and South Australia for CSIRO and Defence. These have involved heritage, archaeological and contamination issues, including issues under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Helen has experience in property law transactions in all Australian States and Territories, and was involved in the development of the National Green Lease Schedules. 

Recent experience

Helen's recent work includes:

  • advised on, drafted and negotiated telecommunications leases and licenses, dealing with highvolume acquisition and renewal leases
  • regularly advising on property management issues and providing strategic advice on retail and revenue leases
  • drafting, negotiating and advising on office leasing for a wide range of public sector clients involving pre-commitment leases, fit-out licence agreements and general advice on the Lands Acquisition Act 1989
  • drafting, reviewing and advising on the terms of securities transactions, including mortgages, charges and guarantees.
